Competências para a preceptoria : construção no Programa de Educação pelo Trabalho para a Saúde

RESUMO

Precepting is an emerging teaching method in Brazilian health care system for human resources training. Preceptors are professionals linked to SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde, Unified Health System) that work with graduate and post-graduate health care students in an educational program, guiding them through their tasks. This research aimed to identify and evaluate precepting competencies for the PET-Saúde Program. This is an exploratory, descriptive, quantitative and qualitative study, that used Delphi method. The participants were PET-Saúde preceptors that worked with basic care in an assistance unit in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The population consisted of 66 preceptors, and the sample comprised 26 of these preceptors. The construction of competencies was conducted in two Delphi rounds, with the first round being used for setting-up the competencies. For the second round a questionnaire was compiled using competencies obtained during the first phase, with the addition of a Likert scale in order to obtain the extent of agreement between respondents. The qualitative analysis was used in wording elaboration for competencies, after the first round, which was based in justifications presented by respondents for the competencies indicated. The objective of quantitative analysis was to establish consensus between respondents, using an average greater than or equal to 4 and standard deviation less or equal to 1 for Likert scale scores 4 and 5. As a result, 43 competencies were classified in nine domain areas, such as: educational, professional value, in health care basic sciences, management, attention to health, team work, communication, towards community, and professional development. The results indicate a commitment of preceptors with the formation of future health care professionals. There is an emphasis in the development of pedagogical skills, which stress the necessity of training before precepting.
