RESUMO

Trade, no aid, this is the essence of fair trade, wich purpose is to help small producers located in south countries allowing the sustainable development in these areas. To be a supplier of this international trade network the producer needs to attend few requirements that make the product to have more social plea, such as give equal opportunities for men and women, be administraded in a clear and democratic way, preserve the natural environment, among other exigences. This social plea must be confirmed by a labelling organization that performs over the mundial fair trade . The governments of these countries have demonstrated concern with the preservation of the natural environment making campaigns to aware the social body about the boundaries of the natural resources, one of the results of these campaigns is that the citizens now have more informations about this agressions against the natural environment and begin to value the product that has organic characteristics (produced without great agressions to the environment, no use of agrotoxics etc). Agua Branca is a municipal district of the state of Alagoas, that is among the 900 brazillian municipal districts less developed. Its agriculture shows an interesting details that are the lack of use of agrotoxics, the traditional sugar cane cultivation and its derived products also has no use of chemical additives. This research had as purpose the study of the raw sugarÂs production system in Agua Branca, pointing some adjustments that have to be done for this product get the international certification by Fairtrade Labelling Organizations Internacional â FLO. This study also shows similar points of its cultivation and necessary adjustments regarding organic production, based on the requirements of FLO who is allied with International Federation of the Agriculture Moviment âIFOAM, which organic certification is recognized at U.S.A, Japan, Europe and South America. To obtain the organic certification the project, in question, must be regulated at the sanitary vigilance. It was studied the requirements made by AgÃncia Nacional de Vigilancia SanitÃria (ANVISA) to register products and their factory. Also was studied the adjustments and investments that should be done to get the register. At last this research concluded that there is the possibility to insert the Ãgua Brancaâ s raw sugarâs production in the international fair trade network. For this possibility is necessary to make some adjustments that are required by the international and national institutions
