CARACTERIZAÇÃO, POR ESPECTROMETRIA DE MASSAS, DOS MICROPOLUENTES PRESENTES NO ESGOTO BRUTO E NOS EFLUENTES DE UM SISTEMA DE TRATAMENTO COMBINADO ANAERÓBIO-AERÓBIO

RESUMO

Pharmaceuticals and personal care products arrive at wastewater treatment plants after disposal, where arent completely degraded. There are only a few Brazilian studies which look for those organic micropolutants on the domestic sewage, as well as their removal in effluent treatment systems. This work developed an analytical methodology in order to identify micropolutants in raw domestic sewage and in a simplified biological effluent treatment plant samples, which enclose both anaerobic bioreactor (UASB) and aerobic bioreactor filter. Samples from four points of the treatment were collected and, after SPE preparation, analyzed in a high performance liquid chromatograph coupled mass spectrometer (fullscan mode). Chemometrics analysis draw attention to nine compounds, seven of which had their structures elucidated and their behavior through de treatment were studied (C10-LAS, C11-LAS, C12-LAS, C13-LAS, oleic acid, linoleic acid and lauric acid). In other way, another strategy were applied in order to search for specific substances (nonylphenol, bezafibrate, bisphenol A and dibutylphtalate), which are present in many daily products. The profile of those substances in the sewage treatment plant shows that, in general, the anaerobic reactor removal efficiency is low, but capable to remove almost completely oleic and linoleic acids of the effluent. The aerobic bioreactor was capable to degrade with high efficiency some organic pollutants such bisphenol A. It was perceptible that some micropolutants, such as lauric acid, arent removed at all, and others, such as nonylphenol may be synthesized over the treatment process.
