RESUMO

The present study aims to analyze the legal rules related to biological diversity and protected areas under landscape linkages, considering the linking structures, especially the corridors, which allow the gene flow among isolated species due to habitat fragmentation, contributing to the preservation of ecological and evolutional processes and, thus, to the conservation of biodiversity. The analysis of the presence of an effective protected areas systems in public policies and its management manners are of great importance nowadays, due to the growing occurrence of the fragmentation of habitat phenomenon, one of the major causes of such diversity loss. The existence of an integrated network of spaces with different levels of protection, managed with different social segments, make feasible enhancing landscape linkage in order to achieve Brazilian biological diversity conservation. The focus is within a moderated biocentrism point of view, granting value to biodiversity, but with no exclusion of possible economic value due to the inevitable use for the human population. Through a multidiscipline approach, using biological sciences, two levels of corridors are defined from a variety of conceptions, leading to the conclusion that one of them is not present in our legal rules framework, although it is present in public policies and is, in practice, implemented
