RESUMO

In Brazil, from the twenties on, the steel was used in structures, squadries and final touches, allowing the civil construction to grow in its rationalization, construction speed, standards, construction set cleaning and production coordination. However, even with its visible advantages, the steel wasnt considerably applied due to its high costs and qualified labor necessity. Only from the eighties on, the steel had its use on larger constructions, in consequence of the high costs compensation specially by its speed, standard and lightness in large constructions. The actual necessity to build fast and without waste are the main factors responsible to the greater use of metallic structures. The point is that there is a nonsense about the environmental implications (environment vs. human behavior), ignoring the necessities from the new customers of such constructions, This research is performed an post occupation evaluation at the Residential Ferroviários, in Ipatinga MG, caring about the occupational dynamics from its spaces, and adequate set related to the environmental comfort. Its used a qualitative point of view, within interviews, questionnaires and situational diagnosis and also measurements. The conservation status is good in general, however, there should be performed some structural recoveries in a periodic set. In a general aspect the results indicate that even if the 92% of the users are satisfied with their residence, 61% of them are not satisfied regarding environmental comfort.
