RESUMO

The research was developed in the nesting project São Carlos in the city of Goiás/Go. The nesting projects (PAs) symbolize the concretion of agrarian reform politics and are implanted through the public intervention aiming to modify the use and the property of the land. The foundation of a nesting project is also a territorial intervention, therefore the process to transform a latifundium, considered unproductive, in an area of agrarian reform takes place by modifying the appropriation and use of the agricultural space, modifying not only the space organization, but also initiating a process of alteration in the landscape in general. In this direction, it is argued how the development of agrarian reform nestings is presented as landscape transforming. In the last 35 years, the region of Cerrado had half of its two original million km2 devastated in result of the culture of pastures and annual cultures. To this reason the high taxes of deforestation by the cattle and use for agriculture, as well as the evidence that some species of animals and plants would be threatened to extinguishing, the Cerrado became, therefore, one of the 34 hotspots for conservation of world-wide biodiversity. Thus, the sustainable development is primordial for a correct consolidation fror nesting project of agrarian reform in all aspects. In this direction, this research is mainly objectified to analyze the changes at the vegetal covering and use of the ground circumscribed to the Project of São Carlos Nesting, in the years of 1989 and 2006, with help of tools of remote sensor and geoprocessing. The sustainable local development is a process and a goal to be reached in medium and long run. In order to this happen, it might occur changes in the development style, being redefined the structural base of economic organization, social relations with the environment.
