RESUMO

The efficacy of a investigation protocol for hematuria was evaluated after being employed in 79 children with hematuria of a Pediatric Nephrology Unit, during the last six years (01/1986 to 12/1992). The patients diagnosed as having Nephrotic Syndrome or Nephritic Syndrome were excluded. It was possible to find 61 defmitive diagnostics during long-term evaluation (:1:30,2 months). The patients were divided in two groups. The first group included patients with glomerular hematuria and the other group patients with non glomerular hematuria. There were 7 cases of Alport s Syndrome, 4 of 19A Nephropathy and 3 cases of Thin -Membrane Nephropaty. Forty-five patients had hypercalciuria and 02 HyperuricosQria. A family history of renal failure, hematuria and hearing loss had a specificity and predictive value of 86,7% and 62%, respectively. The evaluation of urinary erythrocytes morphology showed sensibility of 36,7%. The RBCs casts in urinary sediment and presence of proteinuria showed . sensibility of 6,8% and 52,4% respective1y
