RESUMO

This work has two aims: to evaluate the usability of three virtual environment interfaces of distance education through two evaluation techniques and to identify to the factors influencing the perception of systems usability. The chosen e-learning systems were AulaNet, E-Proinfo and Teleduc, because its Brazilian development and free distribution. The research was conducted through two usability techniques based in literature. The first technique of evaluation was predictive and was carried through by the author and Information Systems veteran student of the Federal Center of Technological Education of the state of Piauí (CEFET-PI), using a checklist called Ergolist. The second evaluation was prospective type and was accomplished with the user having been the proper appraiser of the interfaces, through a questionnaire. The sample was composed of 15 teachers and 15 students of the CEFET-PI. The data had been analyzed from the descriptive statistics and chi-square test. Findings are that the systems have adaptability problems, therefore the flexibility is poor and nor take in consideration the experience of the user. In the inferencial analysis, it was evidenced that `time of use of the Internet did not affect significantly its evaluation of the usability of three e-learning systems, as well as the most variable of `usability seems not been influenced by `type of user , `sex and `education level. On the other hand, in several of the evaluated ergonomic criteria, the `type of environment system variables and `experience with computer and the `age demographic variable affected the perception of usability of virtual environments of distance education
