As determinações sociais no problema da escolha profissional: contradições e angústias nas opções dos jovens das classes sociais de alta renda

RESUMO

The current work aims to contribute to enhance the understanding of the contradictions inherent to the choice of a professional career. These contradictions generate suffering in adolescents that are entering universities. Taking into account the social-historic perspective, represented by Vygotski thinking, the conditions of flexibilization, globalization and technological development are pointed out. Such conditions are inherent to the contemporary capitalism, as relevant factors to form subjective social configurations by youngsters. We analyze the ways of social mediation of those conditions represented by private spaces in high-level residential condominiums and shopping centers, similarly to the television media intensively present in day-by-day life of adolescents. The conditions of massive individualization of those youngsters and the emotional consequences of experiences of personal risk in decision-making processes, which right affect their professional careers, are emphasized. Six signification nuclei which discuses the need for permanent control of the subject over a fragmented reality were taken from the analyzed material. As one exclude concrete conditions of production of bis own existence allows a reification of professions, considered as esthetic experiences. When confronted to with the reality, conflicts corning from the personal and professional autonomy emerge in the subject, though protected from threatening differences, and from being available to always new experiences, but keeping control of bis own future. The comfort of naturalizing explanations on himself and the professions are linked to personal impotency vis-a-vis the desired changes, which satisfy multiple requisites of finding a profession able to guarantee, previously, success and constant pleasure
