RESUMO

This work proposes a study in the fieId of Ianguage acquisition, specifically approaching the Negative Concord (NC) present in BraziIian Portuguese. NC includes itself in the negation scope of the Romance Ianguages, being one of the features that differentiates those ftom the Germanic Ianguages. The theoreticaI background of this study is provided by the recent deveIopments in Govemment and Binding Theory and its updated research in L2 acquisition. A syntactic comparison between the two Ianguages invoIved, Portuguese and German, is done. For BP we adopt the position in favor of a LP nucleus, which attracts NegP due to its poIarity negative features. As to German, we followed the idea that NegP is adjunct to VP. Two aspects were examined in the languages invoIved: Neg position and the Negative Concord (NC) presence or absence. lt is in relation to those two aspects that the informant s evolution was studied
