RESUMO

The radiation patterns and the theoretical development for the avaluation of the cross polarization behavior, using the Wienr-Hopf Technique, for semi-infinite and open cylindrical waveguide antennas with infinitesimal wall thickness are presented. The computed results are shown in a way as to completely characterize the far field of these antennas, operating in the TE11 mode. These results are compared with the available experimental data and theoretical results obtained by the moment s method. In addition, a technique for the measurement of currents in metal surfaces without the introduction of slots in these surfaces is described. This technique was used to measure the surface current distribution, as well as the effect of the wall thickness, on the external wall of the cylindrical waveguide. From the comparison of these measurements with the available theoretical results, obtained using the moment method, the effect of the thickness and the behavior of these antennas is analysed
