RESUMO

This work presents a formulation to study the heat transfer through semitransparent media, where two types of materials were considered: the glass and the aerogel. It was considered the process of conduction and radiation combined in a one-dimensional geometry (slab) with a collimated irradiation inciding perpendiculary on the surface, in steady state. The equation of Radiation Transfer is solved numerically by the method of Discrete Ordinates. The spatial discretization was done by the Control Volume Method. The conduction equation is solved by the Thomas algorithm or TDMA method. The computational routine developed allows the analysis of the influence of each process (conduction/radiation) on the total heat transfer through the media, as well as the effect of thermal insulation of the aerogel compared to the glass in certain temperatures of the faces. Finally, it is presented an analysis of the errors origined from varying the number of volumes and directions of the quadrature used.
