RESUMO

The present study was carried out to evaluate the color change of three different composite resins, after being immersed in some antiseptical solutions for a period of time not over 30 days. .It was also the aim of the present study to search for a correlation between these alterations and factors, such as: concentration, size of the fillers and pH of the solutions to which the specimens were.exposed. The registers oÍ the color alterations were taken through photomicrographs at ifferent intervals of time. The results, once analysed, haveshown that: (1) specimens representing conventional composte resins, become more sensitive to color change after usual finishing and polishing proceduresi (2) organic acids, present in the antiseptical solutions, seem,to have attacked the composite surface, mainly on the first seven daysof study, which contributed alI the more to its discolorationi (3) the filler concentration, when compared with its size, doesn t seem to produce an outstanding discoloration of the composite. Such a fact was, here, confirmmed by the smallest discoloration presented by Herculite in relation to Adaptic
