RESUMO

The main goal of this study is to investigate some manifestations of prejudice in the schools environment as one of the obstacles to the educational inclusion project for students with special needs. At first, the study gives a brief history of the term deficiency based on documents and theories. Later, the study analyzes the imposed cultural barriers that create and establish the many existing social discrimination issues. A research was conducted at two educational institutions â one public and one private â through a questionnaire with open questions applied to schoolsâ principals, coordinators, teachers, and studentsâ parents. The results revealed, in the statistical procedures, that the majority of students there discrimination reveal against individuals with special needs manifested in big proportion. This should be eliminated to allow the educational inclusion project to be applied at such institutions. Therefore, at first sight, the questions related to the educational inclusion project are more of a social order than to pedagogical matters.
