RESUMO

The aim of this Project is to show both sides of the intellectual Alexandre Eulalio: the critic and historian. We investigated how the years of basic studies were decisive for the stablishement of his poetical critico We analised his work at "Revista do Livro" as well as his works as a cultural journalist under academic influence. In our analyses we could stablish that the synthesis that involves all these aspects brought a personal transformation that had as a result a peculiar critical style. Another important aspect to be taken into consideration is the construction process of the critic and the historian. We conclude that both the historian and the critic are correlated in a dialog in search of individuality and to which the sense extends itself to cultural comprehension
