RESUMO

It was investigated corporal movements and meanings of the sporting practice of the laço do boi (ox roping), own rural game ofthe Northwest of Rio de Janeiro and South of Espírito Santo, whose objective is to lasso, set up in horse, a calf in escape by approximately 100 meters of distance. More specifically, the nature of the game and the configuration of the bom party of the same were studied whi1erelationship of the leisure with the way of local life. To investigate such particular manifestation of game, I opted to a scanning of field in the string of the participant comment. The research, qualitative, counted on the intrumentos of notation in notebook of field of 14 weekly parties, registers of pictures and interview with 13 ropers The logic intems of the laço do boi is conected to several factors, being main variables in the production and consumption of the game: the relationship with the animal govemed for the moral of the rural work; the interdependence among the spheres of the work and of the leisure assumed in the corporal action of lassoing; the importance of the rural habitus for the success in the apprentice s formation; the configuration of the objective (hom or ear) altering the tactics of game; the punctuation system and the rules based on the technical work with cattle; the combination between aesthetics and ethics in the conduction of the arbitration; the relationship among the individual participation during the persecution and the collective partition of the results of the same; the lack of corporal interactions during the game; the opposition to the bovine and the collaboration with the horse; the contacf among man and calf mediated by the horse and the rope; the intervening factors to the corporal acting related to the domain capacity on the animals and on the personallevel of tension; the controlled space and the short time for reaction and execution of the cowboys; the symbolic aspect of the dimensions of the area of the game; the pursued animal is the guide of the trajectory of the action; the notion of tarar the rope (it is giving speed) governing the rhythm of the human movement; the tactics ordinary maids to facilitate the participation in the game; the need of cultural competences to transit of the game to the party; the barriers for the existence of that sporting game related to gender, age group and origin local; the motivation different in the participation forcing the diversification of the offers of amusement in the festas do laço; the configuration between the formality and rationalization of the professional sport and the amateurlsm and it lowers organization of the game and, finally, the relationship of the local tradition of the game with transformations in the farmer notion and with the expansion in another rodeo ways. Understanding the laço do boi and the festa do laço to leave of those lines of orientation , the tactics and capacities requested in the existence of those activities is analyzed, understanding as their existence while corporal action leisure of transform-if without escaping of the basic fulcrum of its existence, the extracted life way of the rural work
