RESUMO

We present studies of the optical properties of CdTe quantum dots in doped glasses by means of optical absorption and photoluminescence measurements. We show spectra at low temperature (15 K) and at room temperature (300 K) for series of samples grown under differente heat - treatment conditions. Comparing the low and room temperature absorption spectra we could calculate the inhomogeneous broadening (due to the quantum dot size distributions) and the homogeneous broadening (due mainly to electron - phonon interactions) for our samples. We obtained also, by comparing the energies of the photoluminescence and absorption peaks, measurements of the Stokes shift as a function of the quantum dot radius, for samples grown with two heat - treatment processes. The Stoke shift increases as the quantum dot radius decreases. The results show also that the samples grown with two heat - treatment processes present thinner size distributions (standard deviation of 5.8 %) and better optical qualities than the samples grown with only one heat - treatment process
