RESUMO

This study analyses the technological trajectory of Brazil s. oil industry in the 1970 1990 period, on the basis indicators. Such indicators performance macroeconomic reflect the impact of the macroeconomic evolution of the sector, with emphasis on the exploration and production areas. In four chapters this work analises the evolution of the main indicators of the international and national oil industry (production, consumption, resources, investiments and price); the international technology of oil industry (expenditures in R&D, impact of informatization in the industry) and the technology trajectory of the oil industry in Brazil between 1970-1990, with emphasis on indicators technology performance and institutional approach.
