RESUMO

This investigation aimed to examine the perceptions of professionals assigned by the Family Health Strategy [FHS], about participation and social control in health. This is a field research approach to qualitative, exploratory-descriptive. The study was conducted in Içara city, Santa Catarina state. The participants were members of a health team of the extended family. To collect information we used the Creative Method Sensitive and participant observation. We had three meetings for the production of information that were analyzed by thematic content analysis. It¿s resulted empirical categories that were related to the themes of the workshops, taken as operational categories: the FHS, the social health participation, the social control in health. The perceptions about the FHS emphasized the philosophical principles of the Health System, among which, universality, fairness and integrity. The Teamwork appeared as overlapping work of different professionals and how to articulate knowledge. Perceptions of disease prevention and health promotion, indicated the FHS as supporting the traditional model of health. Participation in health was perceived as passive, with the attendance of the population to the activities planned by the team, but there were also expressions of a more active to understanding the term linked to dialogue and listening. Two perceptions were learned about to social control on health: as how institutionalized forums [councils and conferences] as well as monitoring and controlling the disease. Finally, the perceptions of professionals studied reinforce the assistance servicing model, but also express concern about the change of the predominant mode of thinking and acting in health. There is also need an understanding of the concepts that support this theme, in order, to make the FHS a legitimate space of participation and social control in health.
