RESUMO

The association between sport and media, specially television, has been altering progressively and quickly the practice of sports and the perception people have of it. The television fragments and miscontextualizes the sport phenomenon working with the spectacle logic, building an autonomous literal reality: the sport s teleshow. It is primordial the necessity of teachers to think about the repercussion of this process, overcoming the dichotomic positions rooted between "apocalyptics" and "integrateds". This work aims to accomplish an interpretation of the teleshow speech about sport, based on the Paul Ricoeur s hermeneutics, thinking critically about its repercussion on Physical Education as an educational practice. An hermeneutic interpretation is defined as a dialectic between comprehension and explanation which allows to excell the author s intention by the sense of the texto Such interpretation demands to consider both the context and the forms of teleshow speech, as well as image and talk. The first phase of hermeneutic interpretation is an initial comprehension of the experience in being-telespectator of sport. This comprehension is global and it is done by suppositions. Thus a hundred hours of video taped television programs of various kinds including speeches about sports were analysed. Nine directions of television speeches were distinguished: "talk", "daily", "ai ive" , nostalgic", "adrenalin!", "global sport", "advertisement", "see it again" and "spectacular!". The following phase completes the first movement of the Ricoeur s dialectics and try to sophisticate the initial comprehension based on explicative proceedings, supported by sport social theories - play theories, marxist theories, civilizing process theory, culturalistic theories - beside perspectives of globalization and post-modernism. It is shown the possibilities and limits of these theories in despite of new forms of teleshow sports. On the second dialectic moment, it is aimed to reach the "what about" the speech is and going from the sense to the reference. It was enphasized that the television speech says about "ways of life" that the teleshow sport is a cultural work that open ways to human being comprehension, because it enrols man through an audiovisual language, a symbol and a social action. It is proposed new interpretative possibilities for the teleshow sport. Finally a critic appropriation is done conceived as a direction of thoughts open to speech, which supports a search for new senses for educational tasks in Physical Education. It is concluded that the development of a critic and sensible spectator is the new chalenge of Physical Education
