RESUMO

The aim of this study was to know the womans experience that faces her partners prostatectomy. From the diagnosis, examinations, decision for surgery, post operative care, to recovery of sexual and affective life, she has a fundamental role in that care. There is a strong impact on the couples relationship and difficulties in the rescue of intimacy. On issues related to prostectomy, there is a predominance of medical area that privileges aspects of diagnosis and treatment, but had seen little about the experience of women partners. In this study, the clinical interview focused group allowed to bring this reallity. For this study, five meetings were held which were subsequently and systemically discussed, based on the elements of the conjugal union which allowed elucidating the most affected marital components by prostatectomy. It was drawn the life circle of the couple before and after surgery. The following components: affections and sexuality as the most affected and communication as the structural element of marital quality are discussed in chapters. The meetings revealed the need for clinical interventions that can provide psychological and social support to women an couples. Keywords: Prostatectomy, couple, woman, sexuality, affection.
