RESUMO

The immigratory waves arriving at the State of São Paulo in the years following Second World War were constituted by selective migration for allocation in the industrial sector. Although immigration in the studied period was of proportionally lesser intension than the flow between 1880-1930, it was essentially different than the its agriculture directed predecessor. The São Paulo capital was the main receptor of these immigrants, though it was possible to identify other cities with the presence ofthis man power. Through analysis of "Working Fonns" and "Guiding to Employment Fonns" found in the Memorial of the Immigrant in São Paulo it was possible to follow the insertion of these immigrants into the São Paulo workforce, while tracing the demographic profile, the filled occupations, the employers. An attempt was made to track some employment trajectories which showed the difficult immigrant insertion into the Brazilian workforce, primarily in the State of São Paulo
