RESUMO
The object of this paper is the work of the brazilian artist Cildo Meireles. We analized some of his works that were based on the notion of circulation: Através, Árvore do dinheiro, Zero dólar, Zero Cruzeiro, Zero cent, Zero centavo, Eppur si muove e Elemento desaparecendo / Elemento desaparecido (passado iminente). Our purpose was to examine critically the varied forms that circulation appears in those works: as dispersion, dissappearance, spoliation and even with the opposite meaning of this expression, as interdiction. We could notice also that circulation is an important principle of the changes in operation in the global society. We intend to show how the position occupied by the works of Meireles are related with the social context and how they expose a critical position from the art field.
