RESUMO

This study starts from the classic administration till arriving at the strategic management. It analyses the management of the organizations in general, particularly the management model of the Schools of the La Salle Network. It presents concepts and methods that are applicable to the administration of teaching institutions, with special emphasis in non-university private schools, such as the Schools of the La Salle Network. It proposes a model of administration for the management of the pedagogic and administrative processes of the school, knowing that, even if the models are only references, they help offer the managers the means of reducing the complexities and uncertainties present in the organizational matters. In the last years, the area of the management has been prodigal in innovations and proposals of organizational models. The strategic management is presented as an alternative for the management of the organizations, included the educational ones. However, it is not the only solution for the problems that the managers face in their organizations in this time of changes. It helps in the process of monitoring of the taking of decisions and in the confrontation of the organization itself with its opportunities and threats in the environment where it is, at the same time when it makes known its own strengths and weaknesses. It is believed that the Model of Strategic Management will be able to be one more point of reference to facilitate and strengthen the management of the educative organizations, and attend the disputes that affect it at this moment and, at the same time, develop an ethic work with basis in the competencies and knowledge related with its mission.
