RESUMO

This Dissertation studies a structure of thought, the Victorianism, in the context of Modernity. For this purpose, we worked on the confluence between History, Philosophy and Literature. When investigating the Victorianism, mainly in its English origin, we developed ethics and moral questions, focusing specially something that reaches our XXth century: the unfoldings of the so called “moralizing education”. Fundamentaly, what we aimed to study was a given manifestation of the modern epistemic matrix in its educational intentions - what we did, always, with the important subsidy of the Victorian Literature.
