RESUMO

This dissertation describes the experience of Continued Education for Teachers of Youth and Adults held in the years 2007 and 2008 in the municipality of Valinhos, with a group of teachers working in the first years, from the 1st to 4th terms, aiming to build a curriculum for adult educacion in this county. In this sense, the objective was to delineate, in a qualitative descriptive approach, which changes in the practices of teachers occurred after the course, the importance of the continued education made, in view of the teachers, what methods they use in the classroom, what contents they build up with the students and whether or not there was teacher s appreciation by the Department of Education. Therefore, the semi-structured interview was used as an instrument to collect data, which was submitted to a descriptive analysis of the testimony of six teachers. The results reveal not only the importance but also the need for a continued training for teachers working in adult education. It was clear that besides the municipality of Valinhos maintains policies to expand the service to students, it also needs to recapture the question of continuing education, primary action for teachers to have their space for meetings, exchanges, reflection and knowledge production, reflecting in the treatment improvement and quality education in the Education of Youth and Adults in the municipality.
