RESUMO

This dissertation was developed in the framework of the research line Pedagogical practices and their relations with teacher training of the Masters Program in Education at UCDB. It discusses the process of construction of gender identities in daily activities of childrens education, with children under 5 years of age. It is a qualitative survey with an ethnographic inspiration. On the basis of the observations and interviews with the teacher and the children, it found that childrens education reproduces gender inequalities and discrimination processes. In their daily activities and games, a sexist education is constantly reinforced. As a result, boys and girls appropriate discriminatory concepts of gender, of what is expected and desired for them, strengthening the models of masculinity and femininity determined and imposed by the hegemonic culture. These models are present in all activities in the childrens daily routine, including the color of the dish for lunch: pink for girls and blue for boys, as well as the separate lines of boys and girls. The distribution is proposed by the teacher and also by the children themselves, who have already internalized and thus reproduce a sexist education. The school, therefore, is not a plural space in which the discrimination processes are challenged and overcome, but a space that generates and reproduces gender stereotypes.
