1. Time domain NMR evaluation of poly(vinyl alcohol) xerogels
Abstract Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based chemically cross-linked xerogels, both neat and loaded with nanoparticulate hydrophilic silica (SiO2), were obtained and characterized mainly through time domain NMR experiments (TD-NMR). Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) analyses were employed as secondary methods. TD-NMR, thr

2. Influence of the apparent molecular size of humic substances on the efficiency of coagulation using Fenton's reagent

3. Production, purification and characterization of L-asparaginase from Streptomyces gulbargensis
L-asparaginase is an anti-neoplastic agent used in the lymphoblastic leukaemia chemotherapy. In the present study a novel strain, Streptomyces gulbargensis was explored for the production of extra-cellular L-asparaginase using groundnut cake extract. The optimum pH, temperature, inoculum size and agitation speed for enzyme production were pH 8.5, 40ºC, 1x10

4. ESTRUTURA GENÉTICA POPULACIONAL E FLUXO GÊNICO EM Dipteryx alata VOGEL (FABACEAE) NO CERRADO / Populational genetic structure and gene flow in Dipteryx alata Vogel (Fabaceae) from Brazilian Cerrado
The goal of this study was to evaluate the genetic structure and the spatial pattern of intra and interpopulational gene flow of Dipteryx alata Vogel, based on nuclear and chloroplastidial microsatellite markers. Primers were developed based on sequencing of random fragments from a shotgun genomic library for detection of microsatellite regions. 12 microsate

The aim of this study was to verify the influence of the apparent molecular size of aquatic humic substances on the effectiveness of coagulation with ferric chloride. Coagulation-filtration tests using jar test and bench-scale sand filters were carried out on samples of water with true color of approximately 100 Hazen units, prepared with aquatic humic subst

6. Influence of apparent molecular size from aquatic humic substances in the efficiency of coagulation by aluminum hydroxychloride / Influência do tamanho molecular aparente de substâncias húmicas aquáticas na eficiência da coagulação por hidroxicloreto de alumínio

8. Influence of apparent molecular size from aquatic humic substances in the coagulation efficiency with aluminium sulfate and ferric chloride / Influência do tamanho molecular aparente das substâncias húmicas aquáticas na eficiência da coagulação com sulfato de alumínio e cloreto férrico
Water sources used to supply the public water system frequently have a relatively high true color intensity due to dissolved aquatic humic substances (AHS). In this study, water samples were collected from the Itapanhaú River (Bertioga, SP, Brazil), which exhibited a true color intensity in the order of 300 Hanzen units. XAD-8 resin was used to extract AHS.

9. Estrutura eletronica e polarizabilidades de betainas
This thesis is dedicated to a theoretical study of the electronic structure and optical properties of betaine molecules carried at the semiempirical and ab initio levels. The charge distribution, the dipole moment and the linear (a) and first nonlinear (Ã) polarizabilities of a total of 66 betaine molecules belonging to 6 different families were calculated.

10. Fructan metabolizing enzymes in Vernonia herbacea (VELL.) Rusby. Rusby.
The occurrence of fructans has been reported in native species of a cerrado area of Reserva Biológica e Estação Experimental de Moji Guaçu. Vernonia herbacea, one of these species, presents underground organs named rhizophores which accumulate fructans of the inulin type as reserve carbohydrate. The seasonal growth pattern exhibited by plants of V. herba

PET terpolymers properties were never determined in a complete way. quantification of the relationship between the molecular weight and the comonomers content is practically inexistent. The objective of that study is, starting from 14 different PET terpolymer types, to quantify the thermal properties of stretching and the morphologic structure formed during

A large proteoglycan was isolated fTom the articular, lateral and growth regions of the femoral distal cartilage of the bullfTog, Rana catesbeiana, and identified as aggrecan by a series of biochemical and immunochemical assays. The isolated monomer showed a polydisperse behavior on Sepharose CL2B, with a peak at Kav= 0,17. This proteoglycan was shown to con
