1. 40K, 226Ra AND 228Ra SERIES IN BOVINE AND POULTRY FEED AND IN DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE (DCP) SAMPLES BY GAMMA-RAY SPECTROMETRY
The aim of this study is to determine the amounts of radionuclides' activity present in samples of feed for young and adult chicken and feed for dairy and beef cattle, as well as in dicalcium phosphate (DCP) (CaHPO4), used as a nutritional supplement for animal feed. Radioactivity in these samples is due to the presence of the 238U and 232Th radioactive seri

2. A novel c.1037C > G (p.Ala346Gly) mutation in TP63 as cause of the ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasia and cleft lip/palate (EEC) syndrome
Ectrodactyly – ectodermal dysplasia and cleft lip/palate (EEC) syndrome (OMIM 604292) is a rare disorder determined by mutations in the TP63 gene. Most cases of EEC syndrome are associated to mutations in the DNA binding domain (DBD) region of the p63 protein. Here we report on a three-generation Brazilian family with three individuals (mother, son and gra

3. De mãe em filha: a transmissão da feminilidade / From mother to daughter: transmission of feminineness
The main aim of this study was to find grounds and support from the psychoanalytical literature for the existence of specific psychological vicissitudes along the path from baby to girl to woman. The concepts put forward by certain psychoanalysts regarding this very intricate relationship and their effects on the continual challenge of becoming a woman and o

4. Da relação pai-filha à profissional mulher Um estudo qualitativo com mulheres adultas jovens, numa abordagem junguiana
This paper aimed at showing the relationship father-daughter in attempt to understand the way this relationship affects the development of a woman in her career. In this sense, we looked forward both to some characteristics of this relationship and the attitude of a young adult woman in her professional work. The analysis also permitted the discussion about

5. Do ser ao fazer: infância e família sob a perspectiva da socialização da linguagem
Some studies concerning language acquisition have shown that adult-child and adult-adult interactions are distinctly constituted so as to provide children a facilitated access to the complex linguistic structure (e.g. SNOW e FERGUSON, 1977; FERGUSON, 1996). Others have tried to understand children s pragmatic development of language throughout their first ye

7. A criança e o ritmo em português brasileiro: análise fonética dos dados de encontro acentual / The child and the Brazilian Portuguese rithm: phonetic analisis of the stress-clash´s data
The aim of this essay is to analyze the way children deal with stress-clash in Brazilian Portuguese from the acoustic phonetic point of view. The analyzed parameters were the duration and fundamental frequency of vowels since these are the main acoustic parameters of primary stress in this language (cf. Moraes, 1987; Massini-Cagliari, 1992). In Brazilian Por

8. Myositis in father and daughter
The occurrence of myositis in a father and his daughter is reported. The daughter's illness resembled childhood dermatomyositis and progressed to systemic involvement and death less than four years from the onset of symptoms. In the case of the father the illness followed the course of adult polymyositis and there was little evidence of systemic involvement.

9. Adult onset scapuloperoneal myopathy.
Six cases are described of muscle weakness and wasting of scapuloperoneal distribution with an onset in early adult or middle life and a relatively benign progression. One case also showed mild facial weakness. Four cases were probably sporadic but in two, a mother and daughter, autosomal dominant inheritance was likely. Electromyographic studies demonstrate

10. Immunofluorescence visualization of germ-line-specific cytoplasmic granules in embryos, larvae, and adults of Caenorhabditis elegans.
By using fluorescent antibody staining, we have followed cytoplasmic granules unique to germ-line cells throughout the life cycle of Caenorhabditis elegans. These elements, designated P granules, are segregated exclusively to germ-line precursor cells during early embryogenesis. Prior to mitosis at each of the early cleavages that produce a somatic and germ-

11. Determining the role of patterned cell proliferation in the shape and size of the Drosophila wing
The present work is a detailed analysis of the numerical and positional parameters of cell proliferation in all of the derivatives of the wing disk. We have made use of twin clones resulting from mitotic recombination events at three different ages of development. The interfaces between twin clones indicate the relative position in the anlage of the mother c

12. Drosophila Notch Receptor Activity Suppresses Hairless Function during Adult External Sensory Organ Development
The neurogenic Notch locus of Drosophila encodes a receptor necessary for cell fate decisions within equivalence groups, such as proneural clusters. Specification of alternate fates within clusters results from inhibitory communication among cells having comparable neural fate potential. Genetically, Hairless (H) acts as an antagonist of most neurogenic gene
