RESUMO

This paper considers a comparative study between the corridors of tourism concerning the two South American lake regions: the Itaipu Lake, in Brazil and the Llanquihue Lake in Chile. These lakes have been chosen due to the fact that, despite their distinct environmental and social conformations, both conceive of the tourist activity as one of the basis for their regional development. Through a systemic approach, this study is based on the premise that the spatial planning as well as the urban and natural landscapes, particularly regarding the tourist corridors, might and should represent factors which enhance the importance of tourist destinations. The main result of these actions reflects first on the communities involved, motivating their respect for the place, their concern with the public estate and also, establishing a link with the regional culture. The second aspect is related to tourists, through a better perception of the identity of the places visited. The final result is the strengthening of the image of the place and the contribution to the development in the tourist activity. The data analysis was carried out through researches in primary (survey in locus) and secondary sources, using the contents of the subjects taught during the Masters in Tourism and Hotel Management as a reference. After the ordering of the tourist corridors, the identification of the divergent and convergent aspects of the infrastructure and the analysis of the resources existent in each of their natural and established landscapes, comparative outlines were made with the purpose to register the main features of both areas of study.
